Materials: jute, hemp, wool, paper, coconut fibre, linen

Cyanotype &

cotton

I’ve created several designs in collaboration with the sun. As the print is been created with UV-light, then I love to make these works in collaboration with nature, when it’s possible.
In the designs I either combine my photography and plants or make a compsition with several materials-the outcome is magic that surprises also me.

One of the first photography methods-cyanotype, is a chemical combination of salts that creates a vibrant blue color that is so mezmerising combined with negatives, drawings and plants straight from the nature.

Hand printed plants on linen garments.

Every leaf and print is a unique marking. Presented on a clear background, the shapes and sizes of the leaves become very clear and visible, creating a new link to nature in the minds eye of the viewer.

Printed patterns from nature

“As a creator I am always looking for new ways to develope my skillset, to try to combine old traditions with the contemporary needs and ways of life and finding my own passion through discovering and creating.

I can not hide the fact that I’m into old stuff-as funny as it sounds, I have always been fascinated by the lives, traditions, lore of those who have already passed. Im fascinated by the ground, plants, structures, natural materials. The mystery of understanding through creating in the similar matter or with materials.

So in my creation I am in love with researching the old, the vintage, the primal etc. Finding ways to bring nature into the everyday and have a more nature loving experience as a human in a industrial world.”

In love with

RESEARCH

“In my research I’ve worked with stone, skin, wool, finding ways to make fiber for thread from nettle, linen and wool, looked into botanical & mushroom dyes and printing techniques. Combined chemical compounds with natural matter to develope new materials for interior products or textiles. And will continue to experiment for new solutions.”

Symbols presented:

Tree of life Dynamic life force and wisdom, unifier of all creation. The Tree of Life forms the axis connecting the underworld, the earth, and the heavens.

Butterfly An ancient symbol of immortality: life (crawling caterpillar), death (mysterious chrysalis), and rebirth (freely flying soul). The Butterfly emphasizes the importance of constant change and the need to enjoy the Present Moment.

The elk Symbolizes clarity of thought, purity of aspiration, rebirth, and renewal. The elk is a giver of knowledge and wisdom from the paths of distant ancestors, who takes joy in knowing and sharing knowledge and in close relationships.

Photographed by Sandra Lepik

The dragon is a resident of the inner cosmos, embodying higher spiritual power, the element of water and fertility, masculine energy, nature's rhythms and spheres. The dragon resembles the snake and also refers to vision and constant renewal.
